Reading Eggs is helping me to read.

"Reading Eggs is tricky for me. I don't really like Reading Eggs."

I am learning to identify capital letter, full stops, exclamation marks, and question marks.

"I know where the full stop is. I can read the words too. Mrs Wyatt helps me."

I am learning to know different parts of a sentence.

"I read the words and match them on the board.  It was fun.  Mrs Wyatt helps me read the words."

I am learning that the illustrations can help me read the story.

"I like to do the puzzle.  I like to put it in by myself."

Recognising Sight Words

We are learning to recognise the magenta sight words.

In Reading nga tamariki have been making great progress pointing to each word and using the pictures to help them read a sentence.  Each week we have a new "word of the week" and students do their best to identify that word in their book.

"Reading is tricky", said Ina.

I am learning to look at the pictures to help me read

In Reading we have been learning that the illustrations help us to read the story.  If I am unsure of a word I can look at the picture and it can help me.

"I read my book", said Ina.
