A Puppet Show

WALT create and perform a puppet show.
Room 10/11 had a great opportunity to create and perform a puppet show from scratch! They had to write the script, make the stage and props such as a butterfly, a cocoon, a caterpillar and different types of foods. They practised for a few weeks and developed their acting and understanding of stage performance. Take a look at Ina's group’s performance. (Please click the title above the picture)

The very fat caterpillar

Setting description: the colourful flowers are growing and it’s very sunny. The wind is blowing. The hill is so high and there are three trees. There is a beautiful pond next to a tree.

Narrator: there was a garden with a little white, small egg that fell down from a leaf. Then it cracked and out came a little hungry caterpillar.
Caterpillar: I’m so hungry. (caterpillar looks for food)
Narrator: on Monday it found one pear and ate it.
Narrator: on Tuesday it found two strawberries and ate both of them.
Narrator: on Wednesday it ate three salamies.
Narrator: on Thursday the caterpillar ate four watermelons.
Narrator: on Friday it ate five lemons and on Saturday it ate six cotton candies.
Narrator: the caterpillar felt so sick so it tried eating a leaf.
Narrator: the next day it turned into a cocoon and after two weeks it came out as a beautiful butterfly! The End.

Book Character Dress Up Day!

On Thursday 21 November, Room 10/11 had a fun day dressed up as their favourite book characters. There were princesses, witches, wizards, Hairy Maclary and many other characters from different books! It was great to see the love of reading and making a connection to those characters. Well done Room 10/11 for your amazing effort and costumes!

Art Show - Green Lipped Mussels!

We are learning how to roll and mould clay to form the shape of a mussel shell and meat.

Room 10/11 have made the Mussel artwork for the Art Show that is taking place in Term 3 Week 9. We observed closely on what features green-lipped mussels have and learned to use clay to carefully mould its shape for both the shell and the meat. After, we used the sculpting tools to show different textures on the mussel. Then we used colours to paint the mussel shell and the meat to create the authentic look! Lastly, we used real sand from a beach to make our background.

Counting and recognising numbers to 10

WALT read, recognise and count numbers to 10.

In maths, we have been learning to count objects one by one, and match it with the number. I had to read and recognise the number then write it in the written form.

Cinquain poem

WALT write a cinquain poem
As part of our writing, we learned about the cinquain poem. It's a 5-line poem with nouns, verbs, adjectives and a sentence. Because we are focusing on the sea creatures as part of our inquiry - sustainability and conservation - we drew the picture of the shark, as our poem was on them.

Junior assembly

WALT celebrate and share our learning achievement with others

This term, we hosted one of the junior assemblies. Some of us spoke in front of the junior school while others showed our amazing works like cinquain poem and fraction art. It was a great time to celebrate each others' successes and we can't wait to have another day to host the assembly!

Drawing a portrait of me

I am learning to draw a portrait of myself.

I know I can do this when I have an oval shape for the head
and I have the features in the correct place on my face.
